Wissenschaftliche Laufbahn und Forschungsgebiete

Prof. Bottasso hat den Lehrstuhl für Windenergie an der Technischen Universität München (TUM) inne, wo er auch der Gründungsdirektor des Windenergieinstituts ist. Prof. Bottasso promovierte in Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik am Politecnico di Milano in Italien, wo er seine akademische Laufbahn begann und bis zum Professor für Flugmechanik aufstieg, bevor er 2013 an die TUM kam. Er war Professor für Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik am Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), hatte Gastprofessuren in den USA (u. a. NREL, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, NASA Langley, Georgia Tech) und Dänemark inne und unterrichtete Kurzlehrgänge an mehreren Standorten in Europa, Asien und den USA.

Prof. Bottasso verfügt über mehr als 30 Jahre Erfahrung in Forschung, Lehre und Beratung in den Bereichen Flugtechnik und Windenergie. Unter anderem war er Präsident und Vizepräsident der Europäischen Akademie für Windenergie (EAWE), ist Chefredakteur der Zeitschrift Wind Energy Science und war Mitglied in mehreren akademischen und industriellen Führungsgremien. Prof. Bottasso hat mehr als 500 Publikationen veröffentlicht, darunter etwa 150 Zeitschriftenbeiträge, und über 30 Plenar- und Gastvorträge auf internationalen Konferenzen gehalten. Im Jahr 2023 wurde er mit dem EAWE-Wissenschaftspreis für "his outstanding contributions and pioneering role in the research on modeling and simulation, aero-servo-elasticity, control and design of wind turbine technologies" ausgezeichnet.
