Academic Career and Research Areas

Professor Gänsbacher (b. 1948) conducts research in the field of gene transfer technologies with the goal of developing new strategies for the treatment of cancer and genetically determined disease.

After completing a fellowship in internal medicine, allergy / immunology and hematology / oncology at the University of Pennsylvania and at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Professor Gänsbacher was a professor on the faculty of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for eleven years. Since 1996 he has held a professor position in experimental oncology and treatment research and been director of the institute of the same name at Klinikum rechts der Isar. He is the author of over 130 scientific articles and several books.
