Academic Career and Research Areas

The scientific research of Prof. Hauser (1948 - 2015) was focused on energy-efficient and sustainable construction. His work has been incorporated into significant standards and regulations, such as the German energy savings regulation (EnEV).

After studying mechanical engineering at TUM, Prof. Hauser was a research fellow in the Theoretical Department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics in Holzkirchen from 1972 to 1977. After obtaining his doctorate in structural design at the University of Stuttgart in 1977, Prof. Hauser served as Chief Engineer in the Department of Building Physics, School of Civil Engineering, at the University of Essen until 1983. From 1983 to 2004, he was professor of building physics in the School of Architecture at the University of Kassel. Prof. Hauser had been a full professor of building physics at TUM and Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics since 2004.
