Career

Professor Lintner studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich. After obtaining his diploma in 1985, he spent several years working as a design architect. He enrolled in the Free State of Bavaria post-graduate trainee program for careers in the civil service, specializing in the field of urban development and completing the program with the State Examination in 1989. From 1997 to 1998, Professor Lintner took part in the Bavarian State Chancellery’s 15th special training program for high-ranking civil servants. Professor Lintner held various positions before he was appointed Head of the Department of Urban Planning at the Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Building and Transport in 2006. His remit includes issues of urban land-use planning and planning regulation, fundamental subjects of urban development such as settlement structures with an economical use of space, urban development and demographic change, the development of densely populated areas and rural regions as well as pilot projects for urban development. He has been a specialist consultant at the Bavarian Chamber of Architects since 2001 and was also made a member of the committee for international relations in 2006. In 2005, Professor Lintner was appointed to the German Academy of Urban Development and Regional Planning.
