Career

After studying mathematics and physics at the universities of Essen and Munich, Professor Rempe obtained his doctorate in 1986 and his postdoctoral teaching qualification (habilitation) in 1990 from the University of Munich. He then worked as a lecturer and researcher at the California Institute of Technology. In 1992 Professor Rempe accepted an appointment as professor of experimental physics at the University of Konstanz. In 1999 he became a scientific member of the Max Planck Society, a director at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics and an honorary professor at TUM.
