Career

Professor Stützer studied geodesy at TUM (Dipl.-Ing.). He subsequently completed a post­graduate trainee program finishing in 1984 with the Bavarian state examination leading to top positions in the Bavarian civil service. He then returned to TUM to work as a scientific assistant where he earned his PhD in 1989 with a thesis entitled “Computer-assisted relocation in land consolidation”. Initially he worked as a civil servant supervising various land consolidation projects before pursuing a career in industry. During this time he helped BP obtain building permission to develop their network of gasoline stations, worked for a German property developer on inner city projects and for an institutional investor where he was responsible for the acquisition, management and disposal of property, mainly in Europe and the USA. Since 2003 he has run his own consulting firm advising the fund initiators of institutional real estate funds. Since 2000 he has lectured on real estate management, real estate valuation and the policy of real estate investments at TUM.

  • RENTA-Gruppe Nürnberg, most recently general project leader in a project development company of the RENTA-Gruppe Nürnberg and Suter + Suter AG Basel (1993-1995)
  • Head of the planning department and building office at the Department of Land Consolidation in Ansbach and chairman of various public corporations (1988-1991)
