Career

Professor Thiele studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe (Dipl. Ing.). In 1973 he acquired his doctoral degree. In 1975 Professor Thiele joined Siemens AG where he worked in the field of power generation. In 1979 he became head of the Advanced Technologies, Engineering and Development Departments within the Industrial Turbines and Power Plants Division at Siemens.
In addition to this Professor Thiele took on the role of academic coordinator of the national and international congresses of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). He also led and played an active role in the VDI working group on regenerative energy and in the working group on industrial turbines of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA).
