Academic Career and Research Areas

Philipp M. Paprottka and his team develop new techniques and medical devices for interventional radiology in close cooperation with basic subjects such as physics and engineering.

A key focus of his research is on preclinical, clinical and multicenter studies of oncological therapies. His research activities also include the implementation and evaluation of innovative teaching concepts for conveying manual skills in interventional radiology, with the long-term objective of establishing a future "simulator culture" at German universities.

Paprottka studied and completed his doctorate at the University of Münster. In 2008, he moved to the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München, where he was head of Interventional Radiology at the University Campus Grosshadern from 2013 to 2018. In February 2018, Paprottka was appointed as adjunct professor at LMU Munich and in April 2018 he was appointed as Professor of Interventional Radiology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Paprottka has been an elected member of the executive board of the German Society for Interventional Radiology since May 2018.
