Prof. Dr. Werner Nohl
Honorary Professor at TUM since 1994
Professor Nohl (b. 1938) studied landscape architecture with a minor in urban planning at TU Berlin, graduating in 1967, followed by a year at the University of California in Berkeley/USA. He spent 1969 working in a private landscape architect’s office in San Francisco/USA. Between 1970 and 1983 he worked as a researcher and lecturer, initially at TU Hanover and as of 1975 at TUM. In 1980 he was awarded a doctorate (with distinction) from TU Hanover.
Since 1983 Professor Nohl has been a freelance landscape architect with his own office in Kirchheim near Munich where he does planning, consulting, research and advisory work. He has been a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects (ByAK) since 1980. Between 1983 and 2006 he also held leadership positions at the Institute of Media Research and Urbanistics (IMU) in Munich. He spent the 2006/07 academic year conducting research on landscape aesthetics at the University of Adelaide/Australia.
