The research of Antonia Wachter-Zeh (b. 1985) focuses on error-correcting codes and their application in communication systems and data storage. One of her primary interests is algebraic coding theory (Reed-Solomon, BCH, rank-metric codes) and efficient decoding algorithms. She conducts research into codes for data storage in non-volatile memories, such as flash memories and phase change memories, and for distributed data storage systems. Her research work also involves correcting insertions and deletions. Furthermore, she is interested in the secure transmission and storage of data and how this can be achieved using code-based cryptosystems.
Wachter-Zeh started her engineering studies at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in cooperation with Airbus (Dipl.-Ing. (BA)/BSc. equivalent, 2007). In 2009, she completed a MSc degree in electrical engineering at Ulm University where her area of focus was communications and systems technology. She received her PhD in 2013 from Ulm University and from the University of Rennes 1, France. From 2013 to 2016, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Computer Science Department of Technion Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. Since October 2016, Wachter-Zeh has been a Rudolf Mößbauer tenure track assistant professor at TUM.
