Prof. Dr. Sebastian Esser
Academic Career and Research Areas
Sebastian Esser (*1995) conducts research in the computational modeling and simulation of structures and assets in the built environment. His work focuses on the semantic representation of complex engineering problems and the integration of simulation methods with heterogeneous input and output parameters. A particular interest lies in the digital representation of real-world assets and the efficient utilization of model data across the entire lifecycle.
Prof. Esser studied Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Munich and completed his doctoral degree in 2024 with a dissertation on graph-based version control of digital building models. Since April 2025, he serves as an Interim Professor, entrusted with the acting directorship of the Chair of Computational Modeling and Simulation.
