Career

Professor Breun studied mechanical engineering and engineering management at TUM. He started his career as a scientific assistant in the Department of Metalworking and Casting Technology at TUM. During this time he earned his doctorate in engineering (Dr.-Ing) and assumed the position of academic senior councilor.
Subsequently, Professor Breun was appointed to a senior position at BMW AG in the company’s pressing plant. He later became head of process engineering where he was responsible for forming, surface technology, joining technology, and robotics and simulation applications. The main focus was on testing and developing new production technologies. Later he became a member of the board of directors of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG (MAN Truck & Bus). In this role he was responsible for production and logistics. For a period of time he was also responsible for general purchasing and IT. As a director of the company he reorganized business units and processes, established an effective management structure, implemented a sustainable efficiency program and set up and integrated new production plants abroad.
