Career

Prof. Oliver Zipse is a graduate engineer. He studied computer science, mathematics and production management at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City/USA and then mechanical engineering at the TU Darmstadt. He also obtained an Executive MBA degree from WHU Koblenz and the Kellogg School of Management, Evanston/USA.

Prof. Zipse has been Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG since August 2019. He began his career in 1991 at BMW AG and subsequently held various roles and management functions in development, production and strategic planning in Munich, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Prof. Zipse is a member and vice-chairman of the Senate of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. He has been President of the European Automobile Manufacturers` Association (ACEA) since 2021.
