Die wissenschaftlichen Aktivitäten von Prof. Cicalese (* 1975) liegen vornehmlich im Bereich der Variationsrechnung und ihrer Anwendungen.
Prof. Cicalese studierte Physik an der Universität Neapel und promovierte 2004 im Bereich angewandte Mathematik an der gleichen Hochschule. Nach einem Forschungsaufenthalt an der International School for Advanced Studies in Triest, Italien, erhielt er 2005 eine Festanstellung als Assistant Professor am Lehrstuhl für Mathematische Analyse an der Universität Neapel. Seit April 2012 ist er Professor an der TUM.
