Wissenschaftliche Laufbahn und Forschungsgebiete

Prof. Imhoffs (*1953) Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich des Knorpelhaushaltes und des Tissue Engineering von Sehnen, Knorpeln und des Meniskus sowie der Biomechanik von Schulter- und Kniegelenk. Zusätzlich werden neue minimalinvasive Techniken für arthroskopische Operationen bei Sportlern erforscht.

Prof. Imhoff  hat an der Universität in Basel sein Medizinstudium absolviert und promovierte 1980. Seine Stationen als Arzt und Wissenschaftler führten ihn u.a. an die Universitäten Basel (Chirurgie, Unfallchirurgie, Orthopädie), Zürich (Orthopädie, Neurologie) und Pittsburgh/USA (Sportorthopädie). Nach einer Berufung trat er die Nachfolge von Prof. W. Bernett an der TUM an (1996).
