Wissenschaftliche Laufbahn und Forschungsgebiete

Prof. Brambilla forscht  auf dem Gebiet der Theoretischen Teilchen- und Nuklearphysik mit Schwerpunkt auf Entwicklung und Anwendung effektiver Quantenfeldtheorien zum besseren Verständnis der Dynamik der starken Wechselwirkung. Dabei sind stark gekoppelte Eichfeldtheorien von zentraler Bedeutung sowohl für das Verständnis des Confinement von Quarks und Gluonen in Hadronen als auch für die Erforschung des Quark-Gluon-Plasmas bei Schwerionenexperimenten.

Prof. Brambilla promovierte an der Universität Mailand (1993) und habilitierte an der Universität Wien (1999). Bevor sie 2008 dem Ruf auf den Lehrstuhl für Theoretische Teilchen folgte, war sie u.a. am Jefferson Laboratory, USA (1996), den Philips Research Laboratories in Aachen (2001) und als Assistant Professor der Universität Mailand (2002-2008) tätig. Sie ist Gründungsmitglied der International Quarkonium Working Group (2002), der Konferenzreihe Quark Confinement and the Hadron Spectrum (1994), Mitglied des Theory Advisory Committee of the Panda Experiment und des GSI-Darmstadt (seit 2009).
