Wissenschaftliche Laufbahn und Forschungsgebiete

Tamar Novick ist Wissenschafts-, Technik-, und Umwelthistorikerin. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Landwirtschaft, Tiere, Körperabfälle und Fruchtbarkeit in Palästina*Israel. Ihr Buch, Milk and Honey: Technologies of Plenty in the Making of a Holy Land (MIT Press, 2023), wurde mit dem George Perkins Marsh Prize 2024 für das beste Umweltgeschichtebuch ausgezeichnet und war Finalist für den 4S Rachel Carson Prize. Sie ist Herausgeberin von drei Sonderausgaben der Zeitschriften Technology and Culture, Journal of Material Culture und Osiris.

Novick ist seit März 2025 als W-2 TT Professorin für Technikgeschichte am STS-Department der TUM tätig. Sie hat an der University of Pennsylvania in Wissenschaftsgeschichte und -soziologie promoviert und war Senior Research Scholar am Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte, wo sie eine Arbeitsgruppe zum Thema störende Animalität leitete. Des Weiteren war Novick Gastprofessorin am Lehrstuhl für Wissenschaftsforschung an der ETH Zürich und erhielt kürzlich ein Stipendium der Gerda Henkel Stiftung.
