Prof. Dr. Manuel Spitschan

Wissenschaftliche Laufbahn und Forschungsgebiete

Prof. Dr. Manuel Spitschans (*1987) Forschungsgebiet ist die Wirkung von Licht auf Physiologie und Verhalten beim Menschen, insbesondere auf die innere Uhr, den zirkadianen Rhythmus und den Schlaf. In seiner Forschung verbindet Prof. Spitschan  Methoden der Chronobiologie mit neusten Methoden zur Messung, Charakterisierung und Darbietung von Lichtreizen, sowohl im Labor als auch im Feld.

Prof. Dr. Spitschan studierte Psychologie an der University of St Andrews und promovierte an der University of Pennsylvania. Von 2016 und 2017 war er Post-Doc an der Stanford University und von 2017 bis 2021 Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow und dann University Research Lecturer (2020–2021). Im Januar 2022 wurde Prof. Dr. Spitschan auf die Rudolf Mößbauer Tenure Track Assistant Professorship für Chronobiology & Health berufen, in gemeinsamer Berufung auf eine Max-Planck-Forschungsgruppe am Max-Planck-Institut für biologische Kybernetik.
