Prof. Dr. Florian Egli
Academic Career and Research Areas
Prof Egli (*1989) leads an interdisciplinary research group focused on climate policy, sustainable finance, and green industrial transformation. His work examines how governments can design effective policies to mobilize investment into low-carbon technologies, infrastructure, and innovation. By combining insights from economics, political science, and innovation studies, his research contributes to understanding how large-scale socio-technical transformations toward climate neutrality can be achieved in practice.
He is Professor of Public Policy for the Green Transition at TUM and leads the Transformation Finance Lab at the TUM Think Tank. His academic work is closely connected to policy practice, including collaborations with governments, investors, and international organizations. He is an elected member of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency and a Climate Ambassador for the City of Munich. Prior to TUM, he was a Senior Researcher and Lecturer at ETH Zurich and an Honorary Research Fellow at IIPP, UCL.
