Prof. Dr. Oliver Montenbruck
Career
Oliver Montenbruck completed his studies of physics and astronomy at Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, in 1887. He received his doctorate degree in 1996 and his habilitation in 2006 from the Technical University Munich, where he has been lecturing as an associate professor (Privatdozent) in the ESPACE program since 2010. In 2021, Oliver Montenbruck was appointed honorary professor in the field of orbit determination and navigation.
From 1987 to 2024 Prof. Montenbruck was a scientific staff member at the German Space Operations (GSOC) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), where he led the research group on GNSS technology and navigation for many years. Between 2001 and 2006, Oliver Montenbruck spent several months as a visiting scientist at the Center for Space Research of the University of Texas (UT/CSR), the European Space Technology Center (ESA/ESTEC), and the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (AIUB).
