Prof. Dr. Nina Wolfrum

Honorary Professor at TUM since 2024

Field

Numerical Simulation and Model Digitization of Turbomachinery

Career

After her master studies in aerospace engineering at the Technical University of Munich including a research semester at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Nina Wolfrum did her doctorate in the field of numerical methods for unsteady flow simulations in axial compressors. Ever since she has worked for MTU Aero Engines AG in different positions.

Among other positions, she worked as a development engineer in aerodynamics, led the team for 3D CFD methods for aerodynamics/aeroelastics/aeroacoustics and held the position as the executive assistant to the COO. Since 2023 she is director of the aerodynamics department that is responsible for the aerodynamic design of compressor and turbine components in commercial and military aero engines. In 2017 she gave her first lecture as part of Prof. Lichtfuß’ lecture series „Application of Fluidmechanic Calculation Methods for Flight Propulsion“ which she then assumed upon his retirement.
