Career

Professor Bandmann studied civil engineering at RWTH Aachen. After his studies he worked for Hochtief AG in the design and construction of major civil engineering structures (subways, bridges). In 1977 he became a technical inspector at TBG, the trade association that represents the civil engineering community in Germany. He later became the organization’s managing director. Until 2010 he was chairman of the executive board of BG BAU, the trade association of the German construction industry which was founded in 2005 and is responsible for statutory occupational accident insurance. He has worked in an honorary capacity for DVR, the German Road Safety Council, and for the Trauma Center Murnau.
