Career

Professor Künast studied biology and chemistry. He subsequently worked as a research assistant at LMU Munich and later at TUM where he acquired his postdoctoral teaching qualification (habilitation) in 1983. He then continued his career in the chemical industry
(BASF SE). Until 1993 he was head of insecticide research at the BASF Agricultural Centre in Limburgerhof and until 2009 head of ecotoxicology. As director of E-Sycon, he has been self-employed since 2010. Professor Künast has been an honorary professor at TUM where he has been running multiple day zoological excursions und compact introductory courses to applied zoology since 1990.
