Career

Professor Küspert studied civil engineering at TUM, majoring in solid construction and statics. He then spent 2 years working in an engineering office. In 1985 he returned to TUM as an assistant in the Department of Tunneling and Construction Management. Four years later he earned his doctoral degree with a thesis entitled “Fundamental analysis of load transference in constructing large caverns with special consideration of the spiral tunneling method.”

In 1990 Professor Küspert began his career in the building industry where he worked in various positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately as managing director of the Bavarian branch of STRABAG SE. In 2000 he was appointed a member of the executive board of Rheinhold & Mahla AG, an international provider of industrial and building services. In this role he was responsible for the international divisions turnkey interior fittings, cold store construction, facade technology, ship insulation and outfitting Since 2004 he has been self-employed as a management and M&A consultant. His main focus is on industrial services and the lighting, construction sub-supply and building industry.
