Career

Professor Schlund completed the first state examination in law in 1958. He then worked as a research assistant in the department of Professor Wolany at the University of Saarbrücken. In 1961 he moved to the department of Professor Maunz where he remained until 1968. He passed his final state examination in law in 1962. Subsequently he held various positions as a judge within the Bavarian civil service until 2002; most recently as presiding judge of the civil division of the Higher Regional Court in Munich. He lectured on civil law at LMU Munich between 1969 and 1978. From 1978 to 2009 he had a teaching assignment working with medical students at Klinikum rechts der Isar, initially as a lecturer and since 1983 as an honorary professor at TUM.

    Functions

    • Member of the Living Donor Kidney Transplantation Commission (since 1997)
    • Member of the Ethics Commission of TUM School of Medicine (since 1984)
    • Arbitrator in discussions concerning the allocation of adjunct appointments according to the Bavarian law covering university lecturers and professors (since 1996)
    • Lecturer on medical law (1969-2009)

    Awards

    • Recipient of the Georg Maurer Medal (2005)
    • Recipient of the Medical Law Prize (1998)
    • Honorary Senator of TUM (1997)
    • Honorary member of the German Society of Urologists (1987)
