Career

Professor Vogel (b. 1941) holds a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Darmstadt and a PhD from TUM. He started his professional career in 1970 in the general management of the print division of Bertelsmann AG. After several years in management roles and on the executive boards of Pegulan AG, British American Tobacco (BAT Europe) and the Thyssen Group – most recently as chairman of the Thyssen Group – he went into the private equity sector in 1999. Professor Vogel is currently chairman of Lindsay Goldberg Vogel GmbH, Düsseldorf, which manages the European operations of the New York based LG Private Equity Fund. The volume of investment funds managed by Lindsay Goldberg Vogel GmbH is $10bn. Professor Vogel is also chairman of the supervisory board of Klöckner & Co SE, Duisburg, a member of the supervisory board of Weener Plastik GmbH und a member of the shareholders’ committee of Bertelsmann SE & Co KGaA.
