Prof. Dr. Oliver Junge
Academic Career and Research Areas
Professor Junge (b. 1968) conducts research on numerical mathematics and scientific calculation. He is particularly interested in the development, analysis, implementation and application of conceptually innovative numerical methods for challenging problems in fields such as molecular dynamics, astrodynamics, systems theory and image processing.
After studying mathematics and informatics at the universities of Darmstadt, Bordeaux, Hamburg and Bayreuth, Professor Jung received his doctorate at Paderborn in 1999. His research work took him to Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) (2000 – 2001) and California Institute of Technology (2004). After a period as an assistant professor at Paderborn (2003), he was appointed associate professor of numerics of complex systems at TUM in 2005. He declined the offer of an appointment to the Chair of Systems Theory at the University of Stuttgart (2009).
