Prof. Dr. Deniz Kus
Academic Career and Research Areas
Prof. Kus' field of research lies in representation theory and its interaction with number theory, algebraic geometry, graph theory, and algebraic combinatorics. At the core of his research are, among other things, quantum groups of affine Kac-Moody algebras, the development of new quantizations and their structural analysis, their applications in mathematical physics, and the classification of regular subalgebras.
Prof. Kus studied mathematics and physics at the University of Cologne, where he obtained his PhD in 2013. After postdoctoral positions at the University of Cologne, the University of Bonn, and the Centre de recherches mathématiques, as well as research stays in California, Montréal, Paris, and Providence, he became an assistant professor at Ruhr-University Bochum. In 2025, he was appointed to the professorship for representation theory at TUM.
