Prof. Dr. Marc Ledendecker

Academic Career and Research Areas

Prof. Marc Ledendecker holds the professorship for Sustainable Energy Materials at TUM Campus Straubing, where his research bridges fundamental materials science and applied electrochemistry for a defossilised chemical value chain. His group develops nanostructured catalysts and automated, data‑rich workflows to enable durable, resource‑efficient electrochemical energy technologies, focusing on water electrolysis, CO₂ reduction, and sustainable H₂O₂ production. He simultaneously heads the Helmholtz Young Investigator Group “Novel Catalyst Design” at the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen‑Nürnberg and has secured major competitive funding, including the BMBF NanoMatFutur Award and a Helmholtz Young Investigator Group, while supervising an international, interdisciplinary team of doctoral researchers and postdocs.
