Prof. Dr. Riccardo Marin

Professorship

Machine Learning for Robotics

Academic Career and Research Areas

Prof. Marin's research focuses on Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Virtual Humans. His research aims to provide Artificial Intelligence with a sense of the three-dimensional World that aligns with human perception. In particular, he focuses on finding analogies between objects, recovering corresponding geometrical and semantical points, with a particular interest in analyzing 3D human data. Methodologically, his research appropriates and extends approaches from spectral shape analysis, 3D signal processing, and geometric deep learning.

Prof. Marin obtained his bachelor's, master's, and PhD in Computer Science at the University of Verona. He was a postdoctoral researcher at Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Tübingen, supported by individual fellowships from the Humboldt Foundation and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions from the European Union. He is an ELLIS member, and since 2025, he has been appointed professor at TUM.
