Prof. Dr. Ana Mora-Boza
Academic Career and Research Areas
Prof. Mora-Boza (*1992) is a biomaterials scientist at the interface of stem cell biology and advanced in vitro modeling. Her research focuses on developing organoid-based and microphysiological systems using stem cells and patient-derived samples to study tissue function, chronic inflammatory diseases, and women’s health. She employs cell-instructive bioengineered matrices to guide cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, aiming to create predictive human models that reduce animal experimentation and enable personalized therapies.
Prof. Mora-Boza studied Biotechnology at Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Sevilla (Spain), and completed her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at Universidad Carlos III, Madrid (Spain), with Prof. Julio San Román. Following postdoctoral research at the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, with Prof. Andrés García, and at the University of Galway, Ireland, with Prof. Abhay Pandit, she began her position as Rudolf Mößbauer Assistant Professor at TUM in February 2026.
