
Prof. Dr. Leonie Sundmacher
Academic Career and Research Areas
Professor Sundmacher’s research and teaching focus on key questions in health economics: How are people cared for? Where is the greatest need for healthcare services? And how can scarce resources be used most effectively? The aim is to deepen the understanding of healthcare structures and challenges and to develop solutions for needs-based and efficient resource allocation.
Professor Sundmacher studied Political Science at Freie Universität Berlin (Diploma) and Health Economics at the University of York (MSc). She earned her doctorate at TU Berlin and subsequently held professorships in Berlin and at LMU Munich. In 2020, Professor Sundmacher was appointed to the Professorship for Health Economics at TUM.
