Prof. Dr. Lorenzo Tancredi

Academic Career and Research Areas

Prof. Tancredi's (*1986) field of research lies at the interface between new mathematical methods in Quantum Field Theory and the phenomenology of high-energy particle physics. He studies the mathematical structures that are hidden behind Scattering Amplitudes and Feynman diagrams, with the goal of developing new methods for investigating the Standard Model of particle physics. This will help us understand the properties of the Higgs boson and possibly pave the way to discover signs of new physics.

Prof. Tancredi studied Physics at the University of Bologna and obtained his Doctoral degree at the University of Zurich in 2014. After that, he held Postdoctoral fellowships at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and at the Theory Department of CERN, in Geneva. In 2019 he was awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford and in 2020 he received an ERC Starting Grant. In September 2021, Prof Tancredi was appointed to the Assistant Professorship for Theoretical Particle Physics at TUM.
