Prof. Dr.-Ing. Antonia Wachter-Zeh
Academic Career and Research Areas
The research of Antonia Wachter-Zeh focuses on error-correcting codes and their application to security, communication systems, and data storage. Her interests include algebraic coding theory and efficient decoding algorithms. She conducts research on codes for data storage in non-volatile memories, such as flash memories and phase change memories, and for distributed data storage systems. Her research work also involves correcting insertions and deletions. Another primary interest are security and privacy, particular code-based cryptosystems and private information retrieval.
She started her engineering studies at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in cooperation with Airbus (Dipl.-Ing. (BA), 2007). In 2009, she completed an MSc degree in electrical engineering at Ulm University where her area of focus was communications and systems technology. She received her PhD in 2013 from Ulm University and from the University of Rennes 1, France. From 2013 to 2016, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Computer Science Department of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. Since October 2016, Antonia Wachter-Zeh has been a Rudolf Mößbauer Tenure Track Assistant Professor at TUM and a fellow at the TUM Institute for Advanced Studies.
