Academic Career and Research Areas

Robert Wille's (*1982) research focuses on design automation for complex hardware and software systems. He develops automated methods for design, simulation, verification, and testing. His work covers conventional and emerging technologies, with particular emphasis on quantum computing, microfluidic biochips, nanotechnologies, and optical circuits. His goal is to translate fundamental research into practically usable tools and applications.

Robert Wille studied computer science at the University of Bremen, where he received his doctorate with distinction in 2009. After positions at the University of Bremen and DFKI as well as visiting professorships in Potsdam and Dresden, he was a professor at Johannes Kepler University Linz from 2015 to 2022. Since 2022, he has held the Chair for Design Automation and is a Distinguished Professor at TUM.
