Academic Career and Research Areas

Professor Centrone’s (*1975) research spans a wide range of areas, including formal logic, the history and philosophy of logic, the philosophy of science and technology (with a particular focus on the philosophy of AI), and the philosophy of mind (especially theories of intentionality). Her research style and methodology are distinctly interdisciplinary, and her scholarly contributions have gained significant international recognition, extending beyond the philosophical community.

Prof. Centrone studied philosophy in Florence and received her PhD in 1994 from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. In 2012 she obtained the German Habilitation in Philosophy (Hamburg), and in 2018 the Italian Habilitation as Full Professor of Logic. She received a Humboldt Fellowship (2008), a DFG Eigene Stelle (2013), and a Heisenberg Position (2017). From 2009–2023 she taught at several German universities and was Senior Researcher in Helsinki (2017–18). Since 2023 Prof. Centrone is at TUM.
