Academic Career and Research Areas

Prof. Dawid (*1982) focuses on the screening, identification and quantification of bioactive, sensory active and technofunctional natural compounds in food and plant raw materials as well as their human metabolism. She has a special focus on metabolites that are upregulated by abiotic and biotic stress factors in crops.

After studying food chemistry at the University of Münster, Prof. Dawid completed her doctorate under Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann and followed him to TUM in Weihenstephan in 2007, where she completed her doctorate and a postdoc. During her research stay at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, she played a key role in setting up the Institute for Molecular Sensory Science. Back in Munich, she completed her habilitation with studies on stress resistance in plants. In 2019, she took over as Acting Head of the Chair of Food Chemistry and Molecular Sensory Science. Since 2023, she has also held the professorship for “Functional Phytometabolomics” at TUM and is Deputy Director of the ZIEL Institute for Food and Health and the Bavarian Center for Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry (BayBioMS).
