Prof. Dr. Stefan Guldin
Academic Career and Research Areas
Professor Guldin's research interests lie in the exploration of material formation at the nanoscale and their translation into diverse applications in the life sciences. By integrating concepts of molecular self-assembly, colloid chemistry, and bio-nano interfaces, his group develops adaptive and responsive material architectures for sustainable food solutions as well as healthcare and environmental technologies.
Prof. Guldin holds a degree in physics from TU Munich, where he specialised in soft condensed matter. He completed his doctoral studies at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, earning a PhD in 2012 for his work on Inorganic Nanoarchitectures by Organic Self-Assembly. Following postdoctoral research at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (2012–2015), he joined University College London as a Lecturer, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018 and to Full Professor in 2022. In 2024, Prof. Guldin was appointed by TU Munich and seconded to TUMCREATE Ltd., where he currently serves as Scientific Co-Director and Resident Principal Investigator of the Proteins4Singapore project.
