Career

After finishing highschool with Abitur at Gymnasium Friedberg/Bayern, study in Mechanical Engineering at TU Munich from 1982 to 1987. After that, PhD student at chair for machine elements under Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Winter. Doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) at TU Munich titled: “Shifting Behavior of Automotive Synchronizers” in 1992. Continued work at same chair as chief engineer in the field of continuously variable transmissions and hybrid car propulsion systems.

From 1996 until leave in early retirement program in 2024 various leading positions with RENK GmbH, Augsburg. From 2004 to 2006 deployment to USA (South Carolina) with RENK GmbH. Last position as senior executive with RENK as Head of Central Technology. Visiting lecturer at TU Munich since 2012, Honorary Professor of TU Munich since September 2024.

  • Head of Industrial Gearbox Design/ high speed gears at RENK GmbH (1999-2004)
  • Delegate for RENK GmbH in USA für marine and industrial gear projects (2004-2006)
  • Head of Central Technology at RENK GmbH (2006-2024)
  • Gear Calculation German delegate in ISO committee ISO/TC60/SC2/WG6, Gear Calculation (2015-2024)
  • Chairman of the board of Research Assossiation for Drive Technology (seit/since 2020)

Award for best presentation at the Annual Congress of Research Assossiation for Drive Technology (Frankfurt, 1992)
