Career

Christian Fischer (b. 1964 in Furth im Wald/Germany) studied chemistry at the University of Regensburg from 1984 to 1988. He acquired his doctoral degree from the same university in 1991. From 1993 to 1996 he studied business administration in Mannheim. In 1992 he worked as a BASF postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Materials Science based at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. The following year he headed a laboratory team at the polymer research unit of BASF AG (Ludwigshafen). In 1995 he worked as the assistant to the President of the East Asia region, BASF East Asia Regional Headquarters Ltd., in Hong Kong. He subsequently assumed the role of Deputy Division Manager, Plastics, in Hong Kong.
