Career

Following his initial training as a banker, Professor Dr. Grothmann studied law at LMU Munich. He completed his doctorate (Dr. iur.) and then joined a prestigious law firm in Munich, where he began his professional work as a lawyer. While there, he specialized first in environmental law and later in the fields of construction planning law, real estate law and contract design. In 1999, he moved to a law firm which specializes primarily in real estate law and construction law, allowing him to build on his expertise in these fields. In 2005, Professor Dr. Torsten Grothmann joined together with his partners to set up the Munich office of the law firm Avocado rechtsanwälte. He was a partner at Avocado until 2013. In 2014, he became a founding partner of the law firm GrothmannGeiser, with offices in Munich, Frankfurt, Jena and Berlin. Professor Dr. Grothmann has been a lecturer in real estate project development at TUM since 2006.
