Career

Professor Raffler studied mathematics and computer science at TUM (1975). Afterwards he worked in the field of cell physiology at the University of Ulm and in the field of statistics at the German Research Center for Environmental Health in Munich (Helmholtz Zentrum München). Between 1992 and 1995 Professor Raffler was responsible for the Software and Engineering Division of Siemens Corporate Technology. From 1995 to 2009 he was vice-president and head of the Information and Communications Division of Siemens Corporate Technology. His major focus areas are intelligent systems, smart networks, IT security, human computer cooperation and knowledge management. From 2010 to 2011 Professor Raffler was the German member of the Expert Group on the Interim Evaluation of the Seventh Framework Program (FP7) of the EU. Furthermore he was a member of the Executive Steering Board (ESB) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology ICT (EIT ICT) and he was a member of several scientific boards (Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Max-Planck-Gesellschaft).
