Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wüst
Career
Between 1981 and 1987 Wolfgang Wüst studied civil engineering at TUM. Subsequently he stayed on at TUM to work as a research assistant in the Department of Traffic Route Engineering, receiving his doctoral degree in 1991. Wüst then went on to join a Bavarian state postgraduate trainee program in highway engineering and bridge construction which he completed by passing the final state examination in 1993. This was followed by a number of leadership roles: in the state highways departments of Weiden in der Oberpfalz and Regensburg; at the Supreme Building Authority in the Bavarian Department of the Interior, responsible for transport and building; and at the Highway Authority of Southern Bavaria. In 2009 he was offered a teaching assignment at TUM to lecture on highways and the environment.
Functions
- Head of the Department of Road and Bridge Construction at the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Construction and Transport (since 2019)
- President of the Highway Authority of Southern Bavaria (2015-2019)
- Senior department official and regional head for Upper, Middle and Lower Franconia at the Supreme Building Authority in the Bavarian Department of the Interior, responsible for transport and building (2012-2016)
- Head of the Planning and Construction Department of the Highway Authority of Southern Bavarian (2007-2011), Head of the Ingolstadt State Highways Department (2003-2006)
- Participant in the 17th public governance course run by the Bavarian State Chancellery (2001)
