Prof. Dr. Josef Kainz

Professorship

Energy Technology

Academic Career and Research Areas

Prof. Kainz's (b. 1975) conducts research in the field of energy technology, i.e. the improvement of energy-related processes, e.g. by increasing efficiency or researching new fields of application. His work focuses on modeling and simulation, as well as the development of new control strategies. A particular focus is on energy storage technologies.

Prof. Kainz studied physics at the University of Regensburg (diploma 2000) and received his doctorate there in 2004 with a dissertation on the topic “Theory of Spin Relaxation and Intersubband Absorption in Semiconductor Quantum Structures). From 2004 to 2015, he worked in the automotive industry (Siemens VDO, Siemens, Continental) as a development engineer. In 2015, Prof. Kainz was appointed to the professorship of Energy Technology at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University and is academic member as professor at the TUM Campus Straubing.
