Prof. Dr. Jan Stefan Kirschke (*1977) is the Director of the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) since 2025. His scientific focus is on automated image processing using artificial intelligence and the development of image-based biomarkers for inflammatory, neurodegenerative and oncological diseases of the CNS and spine. His research group “deep spine” was funded by several DFG, BMBF, and 3 ERC grants.

After completing his medical studies, Prof. Kirschke received his doctorate from TUM in 2004. He then completed a fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco in 2005 and 2006 before completing his specialist training at the Institute of Radiology at TUM. There he habilitated in 2012 and moved to the Department of Neuroradiology at TUM as a senior physician and research group leader. In 2024, he declined his call to the University of Heidelberg and accepted a professorship in neuroradiology at the Technical University of Munich.
