Prof. Dr. Lorenzo Masia
Academic Career and Research Areas
Prof Masia´s (1977) research focuses on robotics, particularly exosuits and robot-assisted rehabilitation. He is specialized in design of mechatronic devices for rehabilitation and develops control strategies for human-robot interaction. His work also involves mechanism with controllable compliance, addressing challenges in healthcare and human augmentation.
Master in Mechanical Engineering at “Sapienza” University of Rome (2003). PhD at the University of Padua (2007). Visiting Researcher at MIT (2005, 2006). Team Leader at the Italian Institute of Technology (2007-2012). Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. Associate Professor at University of Twente (The Netherlands, 2018- 2019). Full Professor at Heidelberg University (Germany, 2019-2024). Full Professor in “Intelligent BioRobotic Systems” and Deputy Director of MIRMI at TUM (2024).
