Prof. Riedl (*1960) research is in the field of vocational education and training. His focus is on teacher education research to further develop the professionalisation of teachers at vocational schools, vocational education in the context of migration and heterogeneity with a focus on vocational and educational language aspects, and action-oriented vocational learning in complex technical teaching-learning environments.

Studied for the teaching profession at vocational schools at the TU and LMU Munich with the subjects metal technology and theology. First and second state examinations in 1991 and 1993, followed by academic work and doctorate (1998) at the TU Munich. Habilitation and authorisation to teach in the field of education (2005) at the TU Munich. Author of several scientific textbooks on pedagogy and didactics of vocational education. Head of the Scientific Working Group Vocational Education at the TUM School of Education since 2015.
